The 2024/25 apprenticeship will comprise a one year paid opportunity, working in three London-based practices over the calendar year. In order to achieve our charitable aims and to address a lack of diversity within the Interior Design industry, we welcome applications from black, Asian and minority ethnic students.

The award is for the most innovative, comprehensive and well communicated portfolio containing, in no more than 30 pages, a final degree studio project, and one other selected project. The portfolio should illustrate the range and depth of the entrant’s skills and their unique design approach.

United in Design is pleased to announce the launch of new paid internship programmes designed to offer valuable opportunities for graduates, or aspiring designers in possession of a comprehensive portfolio, to gain practical experience within the field.

These internship options are meticulously crafted to facilitate first-hand exposure to various facets of the industry, including interior design studios, suppliers, publishers, agencies, etc. The details of the available internship opportunities are outlined below:

Option 1: 12-month rotation. This internship is apportioned among three different studios, taking place with each segment lasting four months, starting in September.

Option 2: A 6-month internship commencing either in June or September.

Option 3: A 12-month internship beginning either in June or September.

Additionally, we are thrilled to announce a new and exclusive paid internship opportunity in partnership with Soho House Design. This is a transformative 6-month programme that welcomes both non-graduates and graduates. Over the course of six months, you will have the chance to delve deep into the practical aspects of design, learning from top-tier professionals and enhancing your skills at Soho House Design.

These programmes represent an invaluable chance to embed oneself in the interior design industry and to cultivate a professional network.

We will carefully review all applications and shortlist candidates who will then be presented to a panel of judges. This panel will select the intern who will embark on this exciting journey.

The deadline for all applications is the 20th May 2024. So please get your portfolios and applications ready and submitted before the deadline. No applications will be accepted after this date.

All shortlisted applicants will be contacted shortly after with the next steps.

The submission will present the two projects including any associated imagery, models, work, all within a 30-page PDF. This must be uploaded below, where it will be displayed and archived. Therefore, by entering the competition all students automatically agree to the use of their work in future UID/IE publicity and publications. All credits will be duly assigned.
