Tutor in Interior, Architectural and Spatial Design
A minimum of 81 hours will be offered between end May – end August 2022
This role is GH, fixed term and is paid within Grade UE06 (£15.76 to £18.25 per hour depending on
teaching experience plus 18.1% overall in lieu of holidays).

The Opportunity: Interior, Architectural and Spatial Design are looking for up to two individuals with industry experience in public interior design/architecture, or exhibition design, as well as experience in postgraduate teaching, to fill tutoring positions on a course that requires students to individually design the interior adaptation of an existing (1960’s) building), to jointly design a public exhibition, and to present their work in the form of a final portfolio. Applicants should have experience of interior, architectural, exhibition, or communication design and interior design theory, and desirably have practical experience of working on public interiors, exhibitions, and/or digital/graphical interiors. Experience of these within a university setting is required, and an understanding of the theory of interior, architectural and spatial design to post graduate level would be desirable. Practitioners with relevant experience will also be considered, alongside PhD students or those with tutoring experience in related disciplines to the programme of interior, architectural and spatial design. You will be involved in teaching on one weekday for the first 7 weeks of semester 3 (late May-end August 2022), along with selected drop in points in subsequent weeks. Your work will also include formative and summative marking at set points in the semester and, in addition, you will be engaged with a week-long workshop in the week beginning 13/6/22, for which you will need to be available on Monday/Tues/Thurs/Fri mornings. You will work with a group of up to 20 students, and be responsible for teaching preparation supervised by the course organiser. You will also have responsibility for marking students work to deadlines and undertaking meetings with other course tutors, course organiser and programme director as required. Teaching starts in late May 2022, and you will be required to meet with the other course staff and familiarise yourself with the course material and online systems associated with the course prior to this. Your skills and attributes for success: • Experience in Interior Architectural and/or exhibition design. • Teaching experience at university level in the subject, or related disciplines. • Experience of interior theory and academic discourse • Experience of marking and evaluation of students work. • Ability to use online digital platforms such as Teams, Collaborate and Miro or similar.
