The BA (Hons) Interior Design at Kingston explores the shifting relationship between built internal space, its contents, finishes and alteration and this in turn to the broader external context. It recognises the diversity of approach and outcome the subject embraces. The course is concerned primarily with the cultivation of a critically informed and enquiring mindset willing to explore creative possibility with graduates emerging as well equipped entrants to industry, conscious of their personal position and ready to make an effective contribution. A central objective is the development of an appreciation of materials and making and the heightened awareness of the built environment this promotes – ‘thinking’ and ‘doing’ are considered mutually informing activities. The course is situated alongside Product & Furniture Design, Fashion, Graphic Design and Illustration Animation, each offering potential insight and influence on personal interest.
